Overview- This website is about the Mountain Gorilla. The total amount of mountain gorilla's is about 1,000 of them left on earth. To help these gorillas people are stopping the illegal trade in gorilla products.
Survival Status- There are less than 1,000 Mountain Gorilla's in the world today. This number is likely to be accurate, as these animals have been intensely monitored since the 1950s. The Mountain Gorillas that live in the Virunga National Park have a population of 480, and live in altitudes ranging from 2,300-4,500 m. Most of these gorillas live in the southern part of Virunga National Park, while a few use the Mgahinga National Park, southwestern Uganda.
Conservation- The Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund MGCF is dedicated to the conservation and protection of the critically endangered Mountain Gorillas in Africa, their habitat, and working with the people around the National Parks. They are also stopping illegal trade in mountain gorilla products.
