The mountain gorillas scientific name is gorila beringei beringei. The Swahili name is gorilla or Ngagi. Their fur helps them survive in freezing habitats. Gorillas rarely attack humans. They are related to humans with 98% of human DNA. Females can start producing young at age ten. Newborn gorillas weigh about 1.8 kg.
